The Project
The BBC’s popular series DIY SOS came to Blackpool for a very special build in support of BBC Children in Need. Their mission was to help transform Beaverbrooks House (formerly Blenheim House), the home of the Blackpool Carers Centre.
The charity supports young carers, children, and teenagers who spend much of their lives looking after family members. It offers respite, training, and peer support. But their base had fallen into disrepair. A once-proud Victorian house was now tired, run down, and far from the safe, welcoming place the charity wanted. Something had to change.

Our Role
More than 250 companies stepped forward to support the project. Signs Express Central Lancashire were proud to be one of them. Our task was to design, manufacture and install a large triangular totem sign at the front of the building.
Totem signs are built to be bold. They make a statement. Positioned at the entrance, the new sign gave the centre instant prominence, ensuring it could be seen from the road and recognised as a vital hub for young carers.

The Result
The transformation was remarkable. What had been a neglected building is now an inspiring, homely base for young people who desperately need support. The new sign is just one part of the project, but it provides visibility, identity and pride for the charity.
For our team, it wasn’t just another job. It was a chance to give something back to the community, to support an incredible cause, and to play a small role in improving the lives of young carers across Blackpool.
