Vanguard Mart Cardiff LTD is a vibrant independent retail store in Cardiff. They’re known for a great range of household and grocery items. As the business refreshed its branding, it became clear that the old signage just didn’t reflect their new direction.

That’s when they got in touch with Signs Express Cardiff, looking for a way to lift their presence on the high street and make a better first impression.

Project Requirements

Vanguard Mart needed signage that could:

- Show off their updated brand colours and logo

- Be eye-catching even at street level

- Hold up to the Welsh weather (which can be unpredictable!)

- Go up quickly, without interrupting store hours

We took this on from start to finish - planning, design, production and install - with collaboration at the heart of every stage.

We visited the site and took it all in. The surrounding area, how light moved across the shop front, and where people stopped and looked. It wasn’t just about measurements; it was about making the sign work in context.

Aluminium composite panels - strong, smart-looking, and reliable in any weather

3D acrylic letters - they bring depth and shadow, helping the sign stand out

LED illumination - built in for a clean, modern finish that’s visible all evening

Fabrication

Every detail mattered here. We used CNC cutters for precision and UV printers for colour accuracy. But more than that, we kept checking how everything lined up. Not just the graphics, but the feel. It had to reflect Vanguard Mart’s refreshed energy.

Installation

We arranged to fit the signs outside of busy hours. Our team got stuck in early, using hidden fixings for a seamless look and ensuring everything was safe, sharp and ready to go before customers arrived.

The Results

Vanguard Mart’s new illuminated signage delivered exactly what was needed: a bold, modern look and improved visibility - especially in the evenings.

The installation was completed on time with zero disruption to trading, and early feedback from customers and staff was overwhelmingly positive.

Key outcomes included:

· Two fascia signs were manufactured and installed on schedule

I requested to change a couple of bits and very quickly we had designed exactly what I was looking for. I proof checked it and got booked in for fitting.
