There has been an explosion in the use of Floor Graphics to get across key Covid-19 Social Distancing and Health & Safety messages to staff, visitors and clients. The use of floor space as a key message point provides a very obvious visual reference point for information & reminders.
There are a wide range of materials used to produce floor graphics, suitable for both internal & external use but key things to remember when specifying and using floor graphics are:

  • Ensure the product being used is suitable for the installation point – be it internal floor graphics, external floor graphics, onto smooth or rough surfaces. There are even some products than can be used on carpets but they should be used very selectively;
  • Ensure the product being used has an appropriate anti-slip rating and properties to avoid risks of slips, trips and injury. Specialist floor graphic print material & laminate should always be used – not just a standard vinyl with a matt laminate;
  • Choose installation points that will create the best visual impact and chance for people to read the message – e.g. be visible from wide range of viewing positions and distance;
  • When installing ensure that the surfaces the graphics are being applied to are appropriate for the type of vinyl being used. Always follow the floor graphic installation instructions. In general surfaces should be clean dry and as smooth as possible (whether inside or outside)

Floor graphics can be used by a wide range of companies and organisations, including shops & retailers, offices, council buildings, hospitals, schools, colleges, universities, restaurants & takeaways. They are often placed in reception areas, corridors, classrooms, open-plan offices, kitchens & dining areas.

Recent examples of floor graphic projects completed by Signs Express (Exeter) include promotional graphics for Princesshay Shopping Centre and Covid-19 Social Distancing signage for Exeter Golf & Country Club as they began the process of re-opening the golf-course as lockdown eased slightly.
